DAUGHTRY’s self title debut album sold more than 1 million copies after just 5 weeks of release, becoming the fastest selling debut rock album in history. In its ninth week of release, the album reached number one on the Billboard charts. Chris Daughtry is now the third most successful American Idol contestant in terms of record sales, only behind Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood who both won their respective seasons. He is the most successful contestant, in terms of record sales, from his season and the most successful non-winner or non-runner up.
The first single from the album, “It’s Not Over”, was the eighth most played song across all formats on U.S. radio in 2007, and their second single from the album, “Home”, was the tenth most played song in the U.S. of 2007. At the 50th Grammy Awards, the band was nominated for Best Rock Song for “It’s Not Over”. The band's second album, Leave This Town, was released on July 14, 2009. With their debut album they have sold 6.1 million worldwide and sold over 7.52 million in singles.
